Calamity Jane, nel 1953, calcava il palcoscenico accompagnando Howard Keel in un mondo di frange e fucili. Qualche anno dopo spettava a Liz Taylor vestire i panni della cowgirl perfetta seguita a distanza di qualche decennio dalle ragazze del Coyote Ugly che sul bancone di un bar ballavano sfoggiando pance scoperte e camperos ai piedi e da Madonna. Sono loro le nostre icone quando decidiamo di svestire i nostri consueti abiti metropolitani e calarci in un paesaggio western, tra dune di sabbia, cavalli, rodeo e gli immancabili duelli giocati a suon di pistole.
Per rievocare i must del guardaroba dei protagonisti della Gold Rush, la Febbre dell'Oro dei cowboys- diamo libero spazio alle frange in nappa e tessuto perfette sulle giacche e sulle gonne (scovate bene negli armadi perché tutte abbiamo avuto una fase frange nella nostra vita e spesso ne conserviamo ancora qualche ricordo!)
Benissimo anche la pelle consumata dal tempo sotto forma di gilet o il camoscio (Fendi in passerella ne ha proposti di meravigliosi, da poter utilizzare anche come corpetti sopra una camicia bianca)
Ai piedi sia per lei che per lui la parola d’ordine è solo camperos: anche in questo caso la moda di qualche anno fa può aiutarci altrimenti li potete trovare facilmente di qualunque gradazione di cuoio tra gli scaffali di un negozio vintage.
Denim – jeans, short o minigonna a voi la scelta - stretto in vita da una cinta con gemme preziose. Nel caso in cui preferiste optare per un vestito lasciatevi invece ispirare dallo stile di Isabel Marant, regina dello stile cowgirl urbano, e giocate a sovrapporre strati di tessuti diversi (bene anche il pizzo bianco che regala un allure chic alla vostra interpretazione di cowgirl) e segnate il punto vita con una cinta alta. Completate il look con una mantella frangiata.
E ancora un cappello. Qualche stella a voler rievocare l’autorità dello sceriffo qua e là (MaxMara in passerella ne ha regalate a milioni). Piccoli bracciali di argento e turchesi e collarini di pelle a stringere il collo della camicia, borchie sulla borsa, un foulard-bandana sotto cui nascondere le lebbra proprio come facevano i cattivi dei film western. E l’unica cosa di cui vi dovrete preoccupare sarà ordinare un’altra birra, mentre nella stanza le note di Don’t tell avvolgeranno l’aria (senza l’ombra di un granello di sabbia)

A few years later it was Liz Taylor’s turn to dress like the perfect cowgirl, followed a couple of decades later by the girls in Coyote Ugly that danced on the bar showing their bellies wearing cowboy boots, and after them it was Madonna’s turn. These are our icons when we decide to change our normal urban clothes and immerse ourselves in the western landscape, among sand dunes, horses, rodeos and the inevitable duels played to the sound of pistols.
To evoke the “must have“ of a Gold Rush character or a cowboy’s Gold Fever in your wardrobe, freely use pieces that include leather fringes, particularly on jackets and skirts. (Take a good look in your wardrobe, because every single one of us has gone through a phase of fringes, which bring up fond memories!)
Also worn leather in the form of vests in soft tan color. (On the catwalk, Fendi has shown wonderful ones used as a bustier or worn over a white shirt.)
As for shoes, the only thing for both her and him, are Cowboy Boots. Recent years fashions can help you locate a pair, if not, you can easily find them in any shade of leather on the shelves of a vintage store.
Denim – jeans, shorts or skirts- you choose. Tight-waisted with a belt adorned with jewels. If you prefer a dress, let yourself be inspired by the style of the quintessential queen of the cowgirl- urban style, Isabel Marant. Play with layers of a different fabrics in a variety of textures (white lace that gives a chic look to your interpretation of a cowgirl is also fine!) and mark your waist with a large belt! To make the look complete, put on a fringed cape.
And a hat, with few stars here and there to evoke the authority of a sheriff (Max Mara gave away millions at runway shows). Small silver and turquoise bracelets, and leather bolo ties to tighten shirt collars, studs on the bags, a foulard-bandana just like the ones the old Western films.
And the only thing that you have to worry about is ordering another beer, while the notes of Don’t Tell is filling the air (without the shadow of a grain of sand).
